• Public questions submitted and answered. To view these, please click here
• Council has noted the urgent situation occurring at the Corinella Foreshore as a result of coastal erosion and the contamination of Western Port due to the exposure of an old tip site, and will assist the Corinella Foreshore Committee of Management to advocate to the State Government and EPA for assistance to remediate.
• Council has approved the draft 2020-2021 Budget for public exhibition and comment. Written submissions may be made and will be accepted until 5.00 pm Tuesday 21 July 2020. Council will considers submissions and hear any person who wishes to be heard at a Special Council Meeting to be held at 11.00 am on Wednesday, 29 July 2020 at the Bass Coast Civic Centre.

• A petition from 215 Sunset Strip residents requesting
1. Their dirt roads be covered with Primer Seal dust suppressant
2. A toilet and bbq are built in their park to enable them to gather as a community
3. That the undergrowth in the bush at the top of the estate be cleared as it is a fire and snake hazard.
Council responded that
1. They do not support the installation of primer seal.
2. They do not support the inclusion of public toilets or barbeques within a Local Level playspace.
3. They will continue to monitor the need for any further clearing of undergrowth in accordance with fire reduction standards.
• The Mahers Landing Integrated Marina Development proposed for Anderson Inlet outside Inverloch will not proceed further on the grounds that
“The proposed creation of a new coastal settlement is contrary to state, regional and local planning policies and framework and more generally is not considered fair, orderly, economic or sustainable use or development of land in the Bass Coast Shire.”
• The Integrated Water Management Plan 2020, Drainage Asset Management Plan 2020-2024 and Significant Roadside Vegetation Management Plan 2020 were adopted
• The landscaping designs for Woolamai Beach Road and Back Beach Road roundabouts on Phillip Island were accepted and $113,000 allocated from the proposed 2020/21 Budget to implement Stage One.
• Variations to the Waste Services Contracts totalling $1.8 million were deferred pending further information from Council.
• A variation to the Environmental Monitoring Contract for the landfill sites at Grantville, Wonthaggi and Rhyll was accepted. This variation of $171,943 represents an additional 66% on the original contract sum of $258,720.
• Council is applying for $5.48million in grants to assist with a number of Community Sports Infrastructure projects.
• Council has deferred consideration of the proposed Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality Policy for consideration until after the Council election.
•Council will requests the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to reserve a 27 ha allotment on Billson Street near Carneys Road as a Future Wonthaggi Recreation Site
• Council reviewed the Procurement Policy 2020 and increased the delegation amount that the CEO can spend without reference to Council.
• The Pioneer Bay Road Drainage Improvement Project (Special Charge Scheme) contract was awarded for $3,290,834.00 plus GST.
• The demolition contract for the Cowes Cultural and Community Centre was awarded for a total value of $265,630 including contingencies
• The contract for the Wonthaggi Railway Station Extension and Glazing was awarded for $265,810.00 plus GST
